Our Weekend

Rodger and I had a great surprise this morning while we were getting ready. It was about 8:15 and the DHS Band passed by our house. It was fantastic and I can't wait for 4th of July. Most of you probably know it is my favorite holiday. They had the girls dancing with the flags and the band. Just thought I would share that with you and get you all excited for next weekend.
Today is my dads birthday and he is a big 48 years old!! Happy Birthday Dad! I am missing him today in the office but I don't blame him for not wanting to come in. We're going to dinner tonight at Cafe Alicia's in Bountiful. Before hand Rodger and I are going to visit with the twins for a few hours. I'll take some pictures and post them. I can't wait, it's been too long since I've seen them.
We had a fun weekend. We went up to my dad's house in Eden. Joey, Chels, Keaton, and Isaac, Rodg and I went to dinner before and then we played the card game Golf on Friday night with the hot tub before bed. Saturday was a restful day. The local pool was closed for a wedding. We just hung out and took an afternoon nap. I had a dream to go and get a blue tarp at the Store to make a waterslide. I woke up, told them about it, then had the idea to go in the garage and lucky me, there was a waterslide! Therefore, the fun 4 (minus party poopers Chels and Joe), took it out and had a blast on the hill. Rodger ripped it quite a bit but that didn't stop us. Once the pool was open, we went there for about an hour playing "Monkey in the Middle." We then went to the store for our regular pasta that Rodger loves to make and it is great.
We headed home Sunday morning to go to church. It was our first day with our new callings. Rodger teaches the 9 and 10 year olds in Primary and I'm in the Nursury. I'm a little disappointed because I wish we were together like they usually do, but oh well. My first two hours go by pretty slow, but I enjoy it.

Weekend Fun

It was a great weekend. We hung out with my mom all day Saturday for her birthday. Starting with going to lunch at Bun Basket, swimming, and having a BBQ, then she came and watched a movie at our house. Sunday was busy with now having two dads to visit. We went to my dads first and had a BBQ and watched the Golf Game of course. Afterwards headed to Rodger's dads for another BBQ and games. We had a good weekend and hope all of you did as well.
This is the beautiful cake I made for my Mom. Isaac thought the big M was ketchup.....it's delicious frosting.
What a cute mom! You deserve the best.
This is up all playing Bocce Ball. It's a fantastic grass game. Its a mixture of bowling/croquet and is really fun. If anyone is interesting, let me know:). Or it's located at stores like Target, etc.
I whipped out my camera at the best part, this is where she opened our picture (shown below) and looked up and she couldn't speak because she was tearing up. She loved it!
Now, don't expect any great presents from Ashley. She just got home from her Senior Trip from California. She noticed we all got our mom other presents besides the pictures. So at the last minute, she grabs this magnets, that we have had for years, and hands it to my mom. My mom was either being really nice or has a bad memory because she was all excited (she loves getting magnets as her souvenir from vacactions).....that's just a prime example of how thoughful Ashley is....we still love you!
All of her gifts and pretty flowers.
Rodger and I got a little "present" on my moms birthday too. Thanks to Uncle Bill we got a great deal on this Scooter and it brings us back to when Rodger had one about 2 years ago. It's fun, cheap on gas, makes you smell like "outside" which I don't like, but we've enjoyed it so far.

Mom's Birthday/Father's Day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I LOVE YOU. For my Mom's birthday and Father's Day (a two-in-one deal) we decided to get our pictures taken. We did it last Saturday at Barnes Park. Thanks to Rodger's brother, Jeff, he was our wonderful photographer. They turned out pretty good. We picked some of our favorites and put them in some cute frames. I'm sure it'll be a great present. I hope my mom doesn't get on here before we give it to her or else she'll ruin one of her surprises. For her Birthday we might go to a show in the afternoon before our 3:00 BBQ/Swim Party at her house. I'm excited and I'll post pictures later on from the party. I love you Mom, I hope you have a a great day. Also I love you Dad and you deserve the best Father's Day ever. We're probably going to also hang out with dad tomorrow and have a BBQ at his house. We hope they enjoy our pictures!
This is the big picture we picked to have framed in the nicest frame. I was laughing so hard when we showed Joey because he got so upset. "Rodger and I look awful, it looks like we're telling you all a secret. Just because you and Cort look good, you choose that one. Isaac looks like he just crapped his pants, good pick." When Joey gets upset, it's funny to me because he can go off and I can't stop laughing. The reason we picked this one is because we thought everyone looked good and we loved that we were close and hugging....:) Sorry Joey!!!

Pretty background with the sky and little waterfall.

A kiss to our parents-because we love them so much. We hope you had a good birthday Mom and Happy Father's Day, Dad. We love you both very much!

Our Patio

Rodger and I wanted to make our backyard more enjoyable. We had the idea (thanks to my dad) of putting in a little patio. It was quite the process more then we anticipated. We started Saturday afternoon and completely finished Tuesday. It took hours to make the grass go away by getting to the root and then shaking off the dirt and pulling out the grass. We got the materials that night. We had to get 324 of the cobblestone (which by the way, while Rodger was digging dirt out to level the ground, I carried all of them from the car-took a lot out of me). We also had to get 20 bags of Paver Base and 20 bags of Paver Sand (which I too carried most of:)) We love the results and are very happy it's over! Tonight will be our first night of using the patio set with some friends and were very excited. Our next project-making a Picnic Table-should arrive soon on the Blog. Come on over and have a BBQ with us-we'd love it!
Here is the before picture
The many stones I had to carry-that's just half of them.
After the grass was taken off-Rodg leveled it out the best he could.
Now you lay the Paver Base (rocks) and smooth it out afterwards. This helps so when it rains, it won't make the patio shift.
Myself enjoying a rest from carrying all the stones and bags.
This is what comes after the Paver Base-Paver Sand. This is where it really becomes smooth and flat. You take a 2 by 4 to help flatten it out.
After you've laid the stone-you pour left over Paver Sand and fill in the cracks, then sweep it with a broom.
The finished project!
Here we are so happy it's complete!
